Imagine an oasis amid the high-desert landscape set in the heart of Mexico.... that's the magic of San Miguel de Allende's nearby thermal springs. You'll find an abundance of hot springs within 15 minutes of the center of San Miguel each with a unique setting and features.

  • La Gruta is named for the cave filled with warm, thermal waters and cascading waterfall that is the highlight of this destination. The pools at La Gruta vary in temperature... some are open air and others enclosed. La Gruta offers breakfast and lunch, beer and mixed drinks. 15 minutes from the town center.

  • Escondido Place encompasses more than 10 acres with 4 separate pools varying in temperature. You can camp during the day and the park features outdoor grilling areas and picnic tables for the adventurous and a full-service restaurant with one of the best micheladas (spicey, lime-flavored beer drink) that you'll find in San Miguel de Allende.

How to Get there
Head north on the highway to Dolores Hildago approximately 10km. Watch for the signs on the left for Escondido Place, then La Gruta. Taxis will cost approximately $5 each way. Be sure and ask the taxi to return for you at a specified time.

Cost
Admission ranges from $6 - $8 USD.
