Bird Walks: March 3 and 17th
The walks are for birders of all levels. They begin at 9:00 a.m. and last about 2 1/2 hours. No reservations needed, and feel free to leave the walk at any time. Please bring binoculars, wear comfortable walking shoes and a hat, and bring water. Signe will meet you after you pass through the Reception area of the Botanical Garden.

New Horizons Chamber and Exotic Music Concert
The four movements of Beethoven’s beloved “Spring” Sonata for violin and piano will be contrasted beautifully with several movements from a new work by San Miguel composers Tim Hazell and Turkkan Osman Macías. The exotic new composition, titled “A Walk in Wild Herbs,” features violin, sitar, oud, sarod, 12 string guitar, electric guitar, dulcimer, Mesoamerican flutes, ocarinas, and percussion instruments of ancient Mexico . The Beethoven Sonata will be performed by Sara Hong, piano, and Turkkan Osman, violin, and “A Walk in Wild Herbs” by its composers. They will also perform one movement of a Mozart sonata, and Sara will present the Chopin Ballade No. 4 and Bolcom's Graceful Ghost Rag.

Pro Musica Concert
Mexican Brass on FRIDAY 12 MARCH AT 7.30 PM AND SATURDAY 13 MARCH AT 5 PM. These concerts are not at St. Paul ’s because they require a sophisticated lighting rig for the special effects. On the Friday we welcome you to MOVIETIME, when the fabulously talented quintet will play music both specifically composed for movies, and classic music which has been used in famous films. On Saturday at 5 pm Mexican Brass will present their musical extravaganza, SHOWTIME, a breathtaking musical cornucopia featuring some of the great classical pieces ever written or adapted for brass. J.S. Bach’s great Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor, Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets and Samuel Barber’s Adagio, to name but a few. There will also be Mexican favorites such as La Virgen de la Macarena and others, as well as original works for brass quintet.

Hikes in the canyon of El Charco
The canyon of El Charco del Ingenio has always been a place of magic and mysticism, and a source of old, mysterious legends. This 3 hour hike will start at the Fabrica Aurora and twine through steep crags and cliffs to the pool of El Chan at which point the group will climb up and continue on to the Café of the Garden for a delicious and well deserved lunch.

Garden Lecture Series: The Water Treatment Plant
Led by César Arias, President and Founder of the Botanical Garden and Mario Hernández, Director of the Botanical Garden. March 22 has been designated this year as the International Day of Water and for this reason our talk this month will take place in Parque Landeta at the new water treatment plant which is an example of low tech and low cost solutions to cleaning water. We will meet at El Charco’s reception and leave there shortly before 10 a.m. to go together to Parque Landeta. We recommend you bring a hat and water and wear closed toe shoes.

Second Exhibition of Reptiles
The first Expo of Reptiles last September was so popular, we have organized another exhibit of the representative species of our region. These specimens come from the Herpetarium of the Natural Sciences Faculty of the University of Queretaro. There will be turtles, crocodiles, seven species of rattlesnakes, iguanas, and many more. Special exotic species will be brought in and there will be presentations and four talks on how to handle snakes (dates to be defined).
